Field Fragments: Buggy week with scattered showers
Odonata update: although a few are still emerging, we’ve now entered adult-flyers season. The Blue Dasher pictured above is one of many dragonflies filling the air above every body of water I came close to this week.


Moth week: I’m not good at staying up late enough to see many adult moths, so I celebrated this geeky holiday by peering at caterpillar feet and catching a pair of Luna Moths mating.
Rain update: I got caught out in a sudden storm while kayaking again…and loved every minute of it. There’s nothing like getting soaked to the skin to really feel in your body.
(Yes, I realize this is an acquired taste. If you prefer to stay inside and dry, just pretend you’re watching this video through a window…)
